Alan Berg presents:

5 things you wish you knew before you made your website, and how to fix them, now!

Whether you’re planning a new website or just looking to improve your current one, you need to understand what your website is and should be. If you’re like most wedding pros you know you need a website to be competitive but how did you approach your site’s design and content? Does your site answer the basic needs of your visitors or does it actually turn them away? This presentation is the foundation for Alan’s book, so you don’t want to miss it.

Come to this fast-paced session and you’ll learn:

The 5 basic questions that everyone with a website should know

Whether you need to have more than one website

What content you should have on your website

What landing pages are and how they can help you book more brides

Following the presentation, Alan will pull up some of the websites from attendees. Are you brave enough to show yours?

Many videographers have a love/hate relationship with LED lights. You can’t beat them when it comes to saving battery power and portability. But they vary widely in quality and even some of the more expensive ones out there can produce rather odd results under a range of lighting situations.Enter Nick Fasio, inventor of the SabreLED lights. He will be on hand at our next meeting to demonstrate his new lights. They are solidly constructed out of aluminum and weather sealed against moisture. They are reported to have a very high CRI index, often lacking with many of the current crop of LEDs. They are color rated at 3200K and are claimed to maintain an even color temperature throughout their dimmable range. Rather than consisting of an array of LED bulbs, the Sabre lights come in two models: the first, as a single, powerful LED, producing a bulb-equivalent of 80 watts with a draw of 10 watts and a second model with two LEDs, producing a 150 watt equivalent with a draw of 22 watts. In spite of its durable construction, they weigh a modest 12 and 17 ounces. A number of our members have seen these lights and are very enthusiastic. So who knows? This may well be the LED solution that many are looking for.SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON

Nick Fasio is so convinced that you’ll find his lights superior to the competition that he has invited us to do a side-by-side comparison with any of our current LEDs. So bring in your LED lights and we’ll put them to the test.

SPECIAL NJVA OFFER

For one night only, Sabre will be giving our members a special discounted price. Checks, credit cards and cash are all gladly accepted.

The more diversified the presentations, the better – we like to see not only who is doing what and how they’re doing it, but the kind of work being done in these changing times. Your program’s budget doesn’t matter! This is both a fun evening and a great opportunity to learn from others what works (and sometimes what doesn’t)!WHO IS SHOWING: Any active participant in the creation and/or performance of the piece: camera, producer, director, lighting, sound, set design, performing talent, etc.

MEDIA FORMAT: DVD or Blu-ray ONLY. We’ll provide a projector, screen and audio system.

MEETING FORMAT: Depending on the number of participants, you’ll have between 5-10 minutes TOTAL to show and/or talk about your work and take questions from the audience (if you wish). If 2 or more people present are involved IN DIFFERENT ASPECTS of the piece, i.e., producer and talent, you can combine the time into one longer presentation. Segments or complete short programs are preferred, but feel free to show your new demo.

Here he focused on “million-dollar lighting” on a shoestring budget, how he markets his signature IHNY sessions and how he built a new revenue stream alongside his wedding work.

We also featured the “Gadget Bag”, which is any tool, tip or idea that you use to make your day more pleasant or easier. It can be a tripod extension, a slider, a new LED light, a way to hook a client or whatever!

From Alan: “When we have conversations with wedding pros around the country, the discussion inevitably turns to their ROI, or Return on Investment. They want a good ROI from their print ads, their online ads, their emails, their direct mail, their social media, their bridal show participation and really everything they do. However, when we ask how you’re tracking your ROI the conversation gets really quiet, really fast.

While there is a small group who really have a handle on it, most either don’t track it at all, or are using the wrong methods and metrics for calculating their ROI. Even if you do know your ROI you still have to decide if it’s good, or bad and make decisions based upon that.

What we covered:

• What is ROI?

• How to measure and track your results

• How to understand if your return is good

• How you can improve your ROI to achieve greater profitability”

Shoot to thrill triple header! We started with Dan Strickler and Continuity Shooting.”In event videography, continuity isn’t always called for but in the course of the wedding day, there are several times when continuity is relevant and an experienced videographer should understand how it works” Dan will gave a brief overview of continuity and how it applies to dialog driven filmmaking and reserved the bulk of the workshop for a hands-on exercise that applies specifically to wedding coverage.

Next, it was on to Eric Model and Art Tollefson as they presented various approaches to shooting dance segments. Eric focused more on the documentary style camcorder approach, and Art delved into the DSL Shortform model.
